Wanaka

The Wanaka Golf Course is a picturesque 18 hole golf course surrounded by mountains and overlooking Lake Wanaka. It is nestled above the township of Wanaka, only a 45 minute drive from Queenstown in the heart of the Queenstown Lakes region. Wanaka GC is home to 950 members and hosts plenty of happy holidaying green fee players. Course maintenance is of a very high standard here, and as Central Otago continues to grow as a golfing destination so too does Wanaka Golf Club.

The course was established in 1922 down in the common. It then moved up the hill in the 1930's extending to Faulks Terrace and Stone Street then in 1967 nine holes were established across the road in Wanaka Station.

Tarras Golf Club

The Tarras Golf Club was established in 1956 in the heart of Central Otago's sheep farming country. Just outside the village, it is located along State Highway 8, North of Cromwell and East of Wanaka. Tarras village is a popular stop for coffee and lunch. The unique Country Store and Merino Shop offer local produce and wine tastings. Here you also find the famous Shrek museum.

Tarras Golf Club is one of the few remaining original rural golf courses in New Zealand where sheep graze the fairways and small fences around the greens make sure the animals don't touch the putting surface!

Even though it is a 9 hole course, when played twice, different tees provide alternative starting points and make it an interesting par 72 challenge. Members play all year round and are only occasionally forced off the course during snow in the Central Otago winters. Our nearest 18 hole courses are located in Cromwell, Wanaka, Alexandra, Arrowtown and Queenstown.

Tarras Golf club is a fully affiliated club to New Zealand Golf and offers full membership to all, including international visitors. Green fee players are welcome at any time of the year ($15 per round). The club rooms are open during members days.

Our main tournaments (John Annan Memmorial and Ladies Open) take places in the first week of September each year and are linked with the Wanaka Open tournaments

Omarama

Omarama "place of light" golf club invites you to check out Omarama and come and have a round of golf.
Located in the centre of the south island New Zealand and surrounded by some of the best natural scenery in the world.

Omarama is a typical New Zealand 9 hole course that provides variety by changing tee locations on second nine.

Some holes change from par 4 to par 5 and par 4 to par 3 and a par 3 goes from 145 meters first time round to 195 meters second time round.

The course is in a clover leaf design which means every three holes go past the 19th hole, this is useful both in the winter if inclement weather hits or in summer when the heat calls for a "refreshment break."

The Southern Alps provide a spectacular backdrop especially in the winter when covered in snow, "also provides a great distraction when the golf is not too hot, summer and winter."

Omarama is fully NZ Golf Affiliated and also has 3 sister clubs, which means if you are a member of one you get free green fees on the others.

Green fee players welcome anytime or join us on club days SAT start 12:30 winter or 13:00 summer. Twilight WED 6:00pm start in daylight saving, beginning Oct to end Mar.

North Otago

Situated on the east coast  in the sea-side town of Oamaru which lies 114kms north of Dunedin.  The course offers both rural and seaside views of the Pacific Ocean.

The feature holes include the par 4 3rd which is known as “coronary hill” which winds its way around a dogleg to the left with trouble also left, and finishes with a steep climb to a tiny green cut into the side of the hill. Also the 15th is a short par 3 about 115m that drops down a hill that is well bunkered and a creek on the right.

The uncanny small greens sometimes require patience and positioning off the tee. Generally an approach shot to the middle of any green is a good option. The course is well maintained and the club employ a head greenkeeper who has a big army of volunteers, many of who have given over 30 years of service to the club.

Green fees are around the $25 mark and club hire is available. Despite Oamaru not being the heart of Otago’s golf trail, it is on State highway 1 on route to Christchurch and is well worth a look if you are passing through.
